What happens to a request
What arrives

Opening a short link sends us the usual things a web request carries: an IP address, the browser or in-app user agent, a referring address if one is provided, the code asked for and the time.

What it is for

Running the service, keeping it available and defended against abuse, and counting how often a link was opened for the person who owns it.

What is never done

This data is not sold, rented or brokered. It is not used to build an advertising profile, and we do not set a tracking cookie on a visitor to recognise them elsewhere.

The hand-off does not add anything

Asking a platform to continue in the system browser is a property of the response, not extra collection. Nothing about the visitor is gathered to make that decision beyond the request itself.

After the redirect

The visitor is then on the destination site, which is run by someone else and has its own privacy practices. That part is outside our control.

Keeping and asking

Logs are kept only while they are useful for the purposes above and then discarded. Questions go to support@videochatrabbit.co.
